Divine Irony

is a rich archive of religious delusions, scientific truths and political implications run by a liberal atheist science enthusiast.

"Tell people there’s an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure."

-George Carlin

“If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed”.

-Albert Einstein

I couldn’t pass this up. I had to post it.

Yesterday on Reliable Sources (CNN news show about the media itself) they were discussing the issue of religion in political reporting. The general consensus of the panel was that “it’s a delicate subject”. They were all in agreement that discussing someone’s religion is difficult to do without causing controversy.

You know why that is, right? Because personal delusions are highly volatile when confronted with facts. People get upset when their unprovable convictions require defending. They don’t care about the truth, they care about preserving comforting delusions. When someone is committed to learning the truth they are not threatened by questions or the consideration of new information regarding their beliefs, in fact they thrive on it. ihateallyourgods:
